Felicia and Hanna attend the European Network for Digital Democracy Conference
During 11-12 June, Hanna Kern and Felicia Schmidt attended the second Conference of the European Network for Digital Democracy (EDDY) in Paris. Our team member Jan Maly, currently on parental leave, is a co-founder of EDDY. The two days had a full program with thought provoking talks, demos and poster presentations.
The talks were given by a mix of researchers and practitioners working in (digital) democracy. The first keynote speaker was Umberto Grandi, who spoke about how to best approach explaining election results, both to citizens and in the context of machine explanations.
There were enlightening talks by practitioners who spoke of the challenges and successes of their work, such as keynote speaker Carol Romero. She is the product owner of Decidim, which partners with organisations and provides technology to run democratic processes.
Furthermore, the conference included lively discussions during a poster session, and – of course – we enjoyed being tourists in Paris!
