Dr. Jan Maly (M) is an Assistant Professor at the WU. He works mostly on computational social choice, logic and knowledge representation, with a special focus on participatory budgeting and other complex group decision making tasks. Besides his research work, he also co-founded of the European Digital Democracy network, which brings together academics and practitioners actively working on or with digital democracy in on- and offline events.
Laura Waltersdorfer
PhD Researcher
Laura Waltersdorfer (F) is a PhD student researching Auditable Semantic AI Systems in the medical science and environmental context. She has gained research experience in information systems and data integration approaches in industrial informatics, including quality assurance and process analysis.
Stefani Tsaneva
PhD Researcher
Stefani Tsaneva (F) recently graduated from the master's program Business Informatics and has now joined the team as a research assistant. She has experience in the areas of Human Computation and Ontology Evaluation. In her master thesis, she investigated human-centric Ontology Evaluation tasks that can’t be yet solved using AI algorithms and how Human Computation and Crowdsourcing techniques can be applied for solving them.
Katrin Schreiberhuber
PhD Researcher
Katrin Schreiberhuber (F) holds a bachelor’s degree from WU Wien and a master’s degree in Data Science from TU Wien. Her master thesis focused on applying Knowledge Graph Embeddings to derive Event Explanations in a Knowledge Graph and serves as a basis for her PhD studies at WU Wien on the Intersection between Semantic Technologies and Machine Learning within the FFG SENSE project.
Guntur Budi Herwanto
PhD Researcher
Guntur Budi Herwanto (M) is a PhD student in Computer Science with a focus in the integration of privacy aspects into agile software development through the use of intelligent systems. He has experience with both general software development and the creation of machine-learning-enabled software.
Alexander Prock
PhD Researcher
Alexander Prock (M) obtained a master's degree in Software Engineering & Internet Computing from the Technical University of Vienna. In his master thesis he focused on hybrid human-machine workflows for ontology verification. After several years in the industry as a software engineer he joined the team to research the synergies between knowledge graphs and large language models, as well as to work on the FAIR-AI project.
