Hanna Kern and Felicia Schmidt join SemSys!
We are very happy to welcome two new Project Staff Members into the SemSys group!
Hanna Kern and Felicia Schmidt joined our group in autumn to work on the FairOGD and Citizen-PB projects together with Jan Maly. Both of these projects fall into the field of Computational Social Choice (COMSOC), which concerns itself with the computer science aspects of communal decision making.
Hanna Kern has a background in Mathematics and Statistics, and a general interest in Logic and AI. She completed a bachelor’s in Mathematics (General Mathematics), a pre-master’s in AI, and a master’s in Mathematics (Statistics and Big Data) at the University of Groningen.
Felicia Schmidt holds bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the DHBW Ravensburg in cooperation with Bosch Security and Safety Systems, and a master’s degree in Logic and Computation from the Vienna University of Technology. In her master’s thesis, she focused on bias in Participatory Budgeting (PB).
During their time at WU, Hanna and Felicia are looking forward to doing great research with the SemSys group and obtaining their PhDs.
