Hanna Kern attends the Digital Humanism Summer School
From 8-12 September, Hanna Kern attended the 4th ACM Europe Digital Humanism Summer School in Vienna.
The week had many interesting sessions, including talks by George Metakides, Erich Prem, and Victoria Dignum. A highlight of the week was the talk by Francesco Ricci on recommender systems which was interestingly related to sparse/incomplete preferences, something Hanna and Felicia are interested in for the FairOGD project.
During the week, Hanna worked on a group project relating to AI in the setting of local African languages. It was a pleasure to work together as a group, and reflect together on the inequalities of technology.
The summer school was attended by other members of the Digital Humanism Doctoral College and was a great opportunity to meet with each other, and get to know a new member.

The week was a unique learning opportunity, and was a great taste-test for topics that will surely be discussed in the Digital Humanism Doctoral College.
