Julia Schuller joins SemSys!

We are very happy to welcome a new member into the SemSys group!

Julia Schuller holds a bachelor’s degree in Informatics & Philosophy of Technology from TU Munich and a master’s degree in Social Science of the Internet from the University of Oxford. After several years of experience in software engineering research and the medtech industry, she is excited to now join the SemSys group as a PhD researcher.

Julia’s research interest centres on human autonomy and empowerment in socio-technical systems. To this end, her PhD thesis, as part of the Communicating AI project at the Digital Humanities College, explores how formal knowledge representations can be leveraged to bridge and communicate diverse AI conceptualisations across social spheres. By combining interdisciplinary research methods from semantic systems research & the digital social sciences, Julia aims to render human presuppositions and technical mechanisms explicit for versatile audiences, fostering critical stakeholder engagement with AI systems.
