Majlinda’s Erasmus+ Experience at the University of Prishtina
As part of the Erasmus+ program “Higher Education Staff Mobility with the Western Balkans region, supported by Erasmus+ funds”, Majlinda is participating in a long-term mobility initiative between the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) and the University of Prishtina (UP) for the 2024–2027 period.
Within this program, academic staff mobility supports teaching and training exchanges between WU and UP. In December, Majlinda spent five days at the University of Prishtina teaching Semantic AI as part of a Master’s-level Artificial Intelligence course at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The visit combined teaching activities with academic exchange, fostering collaboration in advanced AI topics.

The mobility project is designed to generate impact at multiple levels. Students benefit from exposure to diverse teaching approaches and cutting-edge knowledge in artificial intelligence, while academic staff gain opportunities for professional development, international experience, and research collaboration. At an institutional level, the exchange enriches curricula, strengthens research capacity, and deepens expertise in semantic artificial intelligence.
Beyond the classroom and the university setting, the project supports broader societal development by encouraging innovation and technological advancement, particularly within Kosovo. It also plays an important role in strengthening ties between Austria and Kosovo, fostering long-term cooperation and mutual understanding across cultures.
What makes this collaboration especially valuable is its reciprocal nature. While WU staff travel to the University of Prishtina twice a year for teaching and training activities, we also regularly welcome academic staff from UP to WU. This ongoing exchange has been key to building strong professional relationships and establishing a sustainable, long-term academic partnership.
