SemSys Invited Talk at the First Data Sharing Winter School

As we start 2021, we look back to some of the best moments of 2020 (yes, there were good moments too!).

One of the highlights of 2020 was the First Data Sharing Winter School which took place as a fully virtual event at the beginning of December. Organized by TU Dortmund and Institut Mines-Telecom, and co-hosted by the International Data Space Association, the Winter School offered a broad and interesting program around major topics related to data sharing with a special focus on the manufacturing domain. Participants, from academia and industry alike, could learn about these topics from experts in relevant areas.

The SemSys group was represented at the event by Marta Sabou (as speaker) and Laura Waltersdorfer (as participant). Together with Arne Broering (Siemens Munich) and Christoph Lange (Fraunhofer FIT), we contributed to a session on Interoperability and Data Sharing in the Industry. In particular, Marta’s talk focused on data sharing challenges during the multi-disciplinary engineering of Smart Factories. She discussed this particular use case and also illustrated solutions developed in our group which rely on the Semantic Web technology stack.

The Winter School attracted interest not only from academia and industry, but has been also congratulated by the German Ambassador in Paris Dr. Hans-Dieter Lucas

We look forward to a second edition of this event, hopefully with in-person participation, in 2021!
